Well, it finally happened! A snowstorm! So strange to be living in Northern Vermont and get so little snow this year! The snow has been pouring down all day today, and we have about 8" so far. It doesn't seem to be slowing down, so I expect at least a foot by morning - maybe more! We had fun sledding outside after farm chores, and then made some awesome origami suncatchers for the windows in the kitchen! So fun!! :-)

The Peace of Wild Things By Wendell BerryWhen despair for the world grows in me and I wake in the night at the least sound in fear of what my life and my children’s lives may be, I go and lie down where the wood drake rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds. I come into the peace of wild things who do not tax their lives with forethought of grief. I come into the presence of still water. And I feel above me the day-blind stars waiting with their light. For a time I rest in the grace of the world, and am free. Wendell Berry, "The Peace of Wild Things" from The Selected Poems of Wendell Berry. Copyright © 1998

AuthorI started Healthy Roots to hopefully inspire others to join the movement towards "back to the basics" traditional foods, natural healing and healthy living, and just moving towards a less hurried life. We run a small homestead farm based on Weston A. Price Foundation and permaculture principles and I raise and breed AGS/ADGA Nigerian Dwarf goats. I also homeschool our two wonderful children. I am a writer, homeschool teacher, goat breeder, organic farmer, and herbalist. We love our life in Vermont, and we are so excited for you to share our journey! ArchivesCategories |
